This part in the play Is a very good example showing that John Proctor Is a tragic hero. One of the things Proctor says to prove his pride fullness is, “l have confessed myself! Is there no good penitence but it be public? God does not need my name nailed upon the church! God sees my name God knows how black my sins are! It is enough! ” (Miller 142). While Proctor is in Jail, his wife Elizabeth tries to convince him to sign off on his innocents, but his pride gets in the way and he was hanged. One of Proctors tragic flaws is that he was prideful. Later in the play The Crucible, Proctor realizes his flaws and tries to fix them but it is too late. Proctor Is a very respected man In Salem but he also has a few flaws that have proved him to be a tragic hero which are prideful, lustful, and well respected. John Proctor Like many others Is a tragic hero.
